Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu is a distinguished executive and entrepreneur with over 15 years of leadership experience across energy, financial media, and hospitality. Renowned for his strategic vision, operational excellence, and governance expertise, he has consistently delivered transformative growth and sustainable stakeholder value across diverse sectors.
As Founder and CEO of Nairametrics, Ugochukwu built one of Nigeria’s most influential financial intelligence platforms, scaling it into the country’s most visited business news site. His passion for data-driven decision-making and financial literacy has positioned Nairametrics as a trusted source for market insights and economic analysis.
At Ikeja Electric, Ugochukwu held multiple C-suite roles, including Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer and Acting Chief Commercial Officer. He led enterprise-wide digital transformation, strategic planning, and revenue mobilisation—driving over ₦36 billion in annual revenues and reducing commercial losses to industry-leading levels. His leadership was instrumental in launching innovative products, expanding premium power supply agreements, and shaping the company’s governance and sustainability frameworks.
Ugochukwu’s governance credentials include co-authoring corporate governance and data charters, overseeing post-privatisation integration, and developing ESG reporting structures. He is widely respected for his commitment to compliance, transparency, and ethical leadership, and has cultivated strong relationships with regulators, policymakers, investors, and corporate leaders.
He holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from Nnamdi Azikiwe University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Corporate Administration, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He also holds certifications as a Certified Investor Relations Practitioner (Investor Relations Institute, UK) and a Certified Forensic Accountant (ICAN).
